Download (and print if you like) my Guide to High Holiday Prayers, in either
.doc or
.pdf format. It includes my overall perspective on Jewish prayer, a glossary of Hebrew words related to the High Holidays, a description of some of the "choreography" of services (bowing, stepping, etc.), and an overview of each section of the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.
There are excerpts from the new Conservative Machzor (High Holiday prayerbook) available on-line. They have some interesting commentary and additional readings on the themes of some major prayers. Look them over and feel free to print them to bring along to services:
- Section on Rosh Hashanah Musaf
- Section on Yom Kippur evening service
(includes prayers that repeat in all the Yom Kippur services --
this one is not a short download but worth it)
